I spend so much time trying to catch up with life I forget to live. And every day I tell myself I'll relax and enjoy my little boy tomorrow...and I go off to cook meals and do laundry and make to-do lists (I love making lists!) hoping to get everything done so then I can finally be in the moment. Well... it's been almost 547 days since we welcomed Urijah into our lives, and guess what? I still don't have it all together, there's still a long to-do list pinned to the fridge, dirty laundry to be done, a floor that needs mopping and a few dishes sitting on the sink...and something tells me there's always gonna be a toy out of place and random trinkets on the table. Some things won't change but my little boy won't be little forever, and he's far more important than my home looking like those wonderfully immaculate houses on Pinterest. So I've decided to stop...take a step back...and soak up the moment.
Tonight, I sit in a house that's far from looking perfect but I'm fulfilled; I can recall my son's bright smile as he ran on the yard and his awe as he saw tiny flower petals flying with the wind and how messy his hair looked and how he smelled like the Silk Strawberry and Banana juice he was drinking mixed with my favorite baby cologne mixed with dirt.
And hopefully, there'll be many more days like today when the magical little things that go with a picture stay engraved in my mind forever.
- Motherhood isn't perfect, but it's a beautifully imperfect journey -
